ERC Starting Grant project TRACE-it
Principal Investigator: Sophie Roman, Université d’Orléans https://www.sophieroman.com/
This project has received funding from the European Research Council (ERC) under the European Union’s Horizon Europe research and innovation programme (grant agreement No 101039854).
The objective of the project TRACE-it (2022-2027) is to figure out how we can control particle flow in geological environments using concentration gradients as the driving force.

- October 2024: You want to embark on the ERC adventure, but you hesitate, don’t know where to start? In this 1st episode of the podcast of the “Cellule Mutualisée Europe Recherche” I am talking about my experience. We talk about my background, why the ERC, how to combine research, teaching and writing grants, my supports, or what the ERC has brought me. We also talk about my journey which combined cancer and work. The help from ERC laureates have been crucial for me, I am very happy share now my experience with my fellows. Since it’s October, the breast cancer awareness month, here is also a prevention message to take care of yourself and those around you. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S2RUnvGnRd0&t=7s
- September 2023: Youtube video (in French) by Monsieur Bidouille on microfluidics for geosciences and about the objectives of TRACE-it, here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9RqVarwgldk&ab_channel=MonsieurBidouille
- June 2023: we developed the first microfluidic chip equipped with electrodes for geo-electrical monitoring. The paper in published in Lab on a Chip, see here. This developement will help us to monitor hydro-geochemical processes in the subsurface (e.g. to locate mineral dissolution, to detect a contaminant dissolving in water).
